   Course Content:-

·  Statistical Analysis & Experiment Design(Nut.600 ):-

·  Review of measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion. Introduction to the principles of ideal experiments. Experimental designs. Blocking and separation of treatment means.  Cross-over designs pens and paddocks, Factorial design pens. Assumptions underlying the analysis of variance.  Dose-response trials, uses of covariance, UN balanced designs, repeated measurements and discrete data; multiple experiments.

·  Nutritional Physiology (Nut.601):-

The physiology of digestion and current topics in the study of nutrient metabolism, body composition and metabolic disorders.Requlation of carbohydrate, protein and lipids metabolism. Review of function, of thyroid, parathyroid adrenal gland and

Gastrointestinal hormones.

· Protein Metabolism & Nutrition (Nut.602):-

This course will provide a comprehensive review of recent advances and current knowledge in the protein structure metabolism, utilization and requirements of proteins and amino acids in Monogastric and ruminants. The course considers general issues, such as methodologies for amino acid analysis, utilization of precursors, ideal amino acid patterns, amino acid in balances, antagonism, toxicities. There will be an emphasis on amino acid metabolism in various species and on determining optimum requirements and dietary balance.

· Nutrition of Carbohydrates & Lipids (Nut.603):-

Comprehensive, review of recent advances and current knowledge on structures, utilization metabolism, and requirements of carbohydrates and lipids; energy constituent of feedstuffs and energy need related to cellular biochemistry; energetic efficiencies and the new roles of lipids as biological mediators; metabolic disorders associated with insufficient carbohydrate and lipid will be addressed.

· Qualitative Research in Nutrition (Nut.604):-

Methods of research surveys, laboratory animal management, nutrition and research. Issues such as animal models and ethics in animal research will be addressed. Chemical techniques used in analysis will be illustrated. In addition preparation of written scientific reports and manuscripts, etc will be addressed.

·Feed Safety & Quality Control (Nut.605):-

This course will emphasize the current nutritional problems such as those related to processing, preservation, quality control, feed additive, antinutritional factors, toxins, microorganism and other feed contaminants.

 Applied STUDIES in Nutrition (Nut.606):-

Types of feed and methods of feeding. Evaluation of feed and nutritional status comparative nutrition, current nutritional problems and disorders. Nutrient requirements for farm animal and poultry. Methodology of ration formulation will be discussed.

 Minerals Nutrition and Metabolism (Nut.607):-

Macro and microelement utilization, metabolism, requirements, and deficiency sufficient information will be given on functions, biochemical role and interactions.

· Vitamins Metabolism and Nutrition (Nut.608):-

All aspects of vitamins metabolism, structure, functions, utilization, requirement and deficiency will be covered. Factors effecting digestion, absorption and transport of dietary vitamins.

 General Genetics (N ut.609):-

Principles of Mendelian genetics, dominance and recessive ness, X-linked inheritance, linkage and crossing over. The chemical basis of inheritance, DNA structures replication, transcription and translation. Gene   expression in euokaryotets and pro karyotes.  Variation in quantitative traits, heritability and repeatability.
