Department of Dairy Production
The Department of Dairy Production was erected in 1992. Formerly it was a section in the Department of Animal Husbandry. Instituted of Animal Production.
The present teaching staff includes six PH.D holders (Two Professor, Two Associate Professors and Two Assistant Professor) beside Four Lecturer and Two Teaching Assistants
Available teaching facilities include a lecture theater and (5) specialized laboratories: Dairy Chemistry Lab, Dairy Processing Lab, Dairy Food Microbiology Lab and Reproductive Physiology Lab, Molecular Lap
The Departmental Library was establish to comprises major scientific research activates in the Department (Dairy Production and Technology, Milk and Milk Product Quality Control, Endocrinology and Reproductive Physiology, Lactation Physiology, Dairy and Food Microbiology and Dairy Farm Management)
The Academic Staff in the Department contribute effectively in teaching at both under and postgraduate levels in the Faculty of Veterinary and Agriculture (Shambat Campus).
The Department offers PH.D and Master Degrees by research in addition to M.Sc Degree in Dairy Production and Technology by courses and research.
The Department offers A diploma in Dairy Production and Technology to contribute in rural communities’ development.
Staff Members participated in workshops seminars and conferences at the local, regional and international levels.
The Department is represented in the Milk Consultancy Board a ffliated to the Ministry of Animal Wealth and Fishery , Board of Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO).
The Department has co operational links with Food Resources Center (FRC) .Animal Resources Corporation, State Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources and Irrigation Governmental and Private Companies of milk production and processing. And a sizable members of Sudanese universities and research Institutes.
Staff Members have good link with some International Universities Staff and Organization (UNDP).
Staff Members are actively involved in preparation and extension of development programs, technical and economical feasibility studies of dairy production and technology
